What Is Template Assisted Crystallization (TAC) or Nucleation Assisted Crystallization (NAC)?
Template Assisted Crystallization" (TAC) and "Nucleation Assisted Crystallization" (NAC) are often used interchangeably to refer to the same process. A special media or catalytic materials that are used to aid in the precipitation and crystallization of hardness minerals present in water.
These medias are typically made of a material that promotes the formation of microscopic crystals, which then act as nucleation sites for the precipitation of dissolved minerals, primarily calcium and magnesium. As water flows through the conditioner, the hardness minerals adhere to the crystals and form larger, insoluble particles.
The purpose of this process is to prevent the minerals from depositing on surfaces such as pipes, appliances, and fixtures, thereby reducing scale buildup and related issues caused by hard water. The crystallized particles are meant to remain suspended in the water rather than adhering to surfaces, allowing them to be flushed away more easily.
